The latest version isn’t always the right version for you. Maybe the new build stutters on your phone. Maybe a patch removed a glitch your speedrun route needs. Maybe your friends are all on an older build, and multiplayer won’t let you join unless you match it. Or maybe you just want to see what the game felt like back in 2023. Whatever the reason, picking an old version should be a decision, not a guess. Most “old versions” pages hand you a short list of download buttons and call it a day — no release dates, no record of what each update actually changed, and no guidance on which build fits your situation. This page does the opposite: the complete version list with the developer’s official release dates, a note on what each update changed, and a clear guide to choosing the right build. One thing this page will not do: pretend old versions are perfect. An old build is, by definition, a build with old bugs still in it. Anyone telling you an old version is “bug-free” while also warning you about its “old glitches” is contradicting themselves. You’ll get the honest version (quick guide)(quick guide) Start here. Find your situation, then read the full list below only if you want the details.
Your situation What to pick Why
You want to join friends in multiplayer The exact version your friends are on Since update 12.1.3, lobbies show each player’s version number, and mismatched versions can’t join the same party. Matching is not optional.
You want Hardcore Mode or the Crystalline Lagoon 13.0.0 or newer Both arrived in “The Bundles Update” (13.0.0, July 2026). Nothing older has them.
You want the latest fixes and all content 13.0.5 (the current build) It’s the newest build with the longest fix list behind it. Most players should just stay here.
You hunt Backrooms secrets 10.1.0 or newer The Backrooms were added in 10.1.0. Anything older literally doesn’t contain the area.
Your phone struggles with the new build Try a 12.x build Older builds are smaller (~190–230 MB vs ~247 MB+). Some players report smoother performance on low-end phones — but that’s device-dependent, not a guarantee.
Your speedrun needs a patched-out glitch The specific build where the glitch existed Check community records (speedrun.com) for the exact build. We can’t tell you which build had which glitch — the official changelog doesn’t track glitches, only fixes.
Nostalgia — you want to see an old era Pick by era below 12.x = multiplayer era, 10.x = Backrooms/Hive era, 1.x = the early years.
Still unsure? The rule of thumb: if none of the rows above describes you, stay on the latest version. Downgrading is a tool for a specific job, not an upgrade in disguise.

The complete version history

Dates below are the developer’s official release dates from the Super Bear Adventure news page (superbearadventure.com/news) — not mirror upload dates, which are often days or weeks later and cause most of the date confusion online. Sizes come from third-party mirror listings (mainly APKPure) and vary by format; where no reliable size is documented, it says “varies.” Patch builds are bugfix releases. Highlights are shown where the official changelog documents something notable — for the full per-build notes, the official news page is the source.

The 1.9.x era and earlier (brief)

  • 1.9.9 (26 Jul 2021) back through 1.9.0 (18 Aug 2020) — the late early-era builds. Note: 1.9.2 (1 Oct 2020) was the iOS release.
  • 1.8.x (early–mid 2020), then 1.7.0 (3 Aug 2019) — the Giant House update, one of the most-loved worlds in the game.
  • All the way back to 1.0.0 (10 Jun 2017) — the initial release.
These oldest builds are for collectors and historians now. Modern multiplayer won’t know what to do with them, and anything before 12.0.0 has no multiplayer at all.

The versions that actually mattered

If you’d rather pick one landmark build than browse the whole list, these are the versions where the game visibly changed direction:
  • 13.0.0 (Jul 2026) — “The Bundles Update.” Hardcore Mode and the Crystalline Lagoon arrive. This is where the modern game starts.
  • 12.0.0 (Jul 2025) — “The Multiplayer Update.” Up to 4 players, cross-platform across Android, iOS, and Switch. The game stops being a solo trip.
  • 10.1.0 (Feb 2023) — The Backrooms are added. Secret hunters: this is your minimum version.
  • 10.0 (Nov 2022) — The Hive update. A whole new world joins the map.
  • 1.7.0 (Aug 2019) — Giant House added. One of the most-loved worlds shows up here.
  • 1.0.0 (Jun 2017) — The initial release. Nine years of bear, in one file.

Old vs latest: an honest comparison

Older build (e.g. 12.x and earlier) Latest (13.0.5)
File size Often smaller (11.x around 150–175 MB; 12.x around 190–230 MB) Larger — ~247 MB for 13.0.5 (varies by format)
New worlds and modes Missing newer content: Hardcore Mode and Crystalline Lagoon need 13.0.0+; Backrooms need 10.1.0+ Everything included
Multiplayer Only on 12.0.0 and newer; every player must be on the same version Full multiplayer with the latest invite-code fixes
Bugs Old, unfixed bugs are still there — that’s what “old” means All currently known fixes applied
Security No recent security patches Current
Performance on low-end phones Some players report smoother results; it varies by device and isn’t guaranteed Heavier build, can struggle on very old hardware
Notice what this table doesn’t say: that old versions are “bug-free” or “faster.” Those claims show up on a lot of old-version pages, sometimes on the same page that warns you about old glitches. An old build can run well on your phone, and it can also contain bugs that were fixed years ago. Both are true at once — that’s the trade-off you’re accepting.

Downgrade safety checklist

If you’ve picked a version, run through this list before you install it. Each step exists because skipping it causes a specific, avoidable problem.
  1. Back up your save data first. Downgrading usually means uninstalling the current build, and uninstalling can wipe your progress. Save-data compatibility between versions is not officially documented, so assume nothing carries over and protect your progress before you touch anything.
  2. Uninstall the current build before installing the older one. Two builds of the same package side by side cause save-data and install conflicts. One version at a time.
  3. Verify the file before installing. The real game is `com.Earthkwak.Platformer` by Earthkwak Games — if a file claims to be Super Bear Adventure under a different package name, walk away. Compare the file size against the mirror-reported sizes in the table above; a wildly different size is a warning sign. Prefer established mirrors that verify APK signatures.
  4. Stop auto-updates for the game. In the Play Store, turn off auto-update for Super Bear Adventure so your chosen build doesn’t silently update itself overnight and undo the whole exercise.
  5. Check the basics after installing. Launch the game, load into a level, and confirm your save situation before you go hunting for old glitches or joining lobbies.
  6. Keep the installer file. If you ever need to reinstall that exact build, you don’t want to go hunting for it again.

The honest risks of playing an old version

No scare tactics — just the trade-offs, stated plainly:
  • No security patches. An old build doesn’t receive fixes for anything discovered after its release. Don’t make a 2021 build your daily driver.
  • Old bugs are still in there. Every fix in the changelog above is a bug your old build still has. If a site promises a “bug-free” old version, it’s selling you something that can’t exist.
  • Multiplayer has hard limits. Anything before 12.0.0 has no multiplayer at all. From 12.0.0 on, every player in a party must run the same version — and from 12.1.3 the lobby shows versions, so there’s no sneaking past it.
  • New-Android compatibility isn’t guaranteed. An old build may behave oddly on the newest Android releases. Nobody officially tests backward compatibility of old builds.
  • Mods are version-specific. A mod built for one version may not work on another. Match the mod to the build, not just to the game.
  • No official downgrade support. The developer publishes the new builds; going backward is on you, which is exactly why the checklist above exists.

Why different sites show different dates for the same version

You’ll notice some sites list different release dates for the same version. Here’s why: mirrors show their own upload date, not the day the developer released the build. One mirror lists 13.0.4 as “17 Aug 2026” and another claims it dropped in late July — the official date is 7 Aug 2026. Whenever dates disagree, the developer’s news page wins. That’s the standard this list follows, and it’s worth applying to any version list you read elsewhere.

Why this page has no download links

This is deliberate. This page is a guide — it tells you which version you need and why. It doesn’t host files or link to APK downloads, because a version list with direct downloads becomes a file-hosting page, and file-hosting pages have a way of serving whatever file is most profitable rather than the file you asked for. Take the version number from here, then get the file from a mirror you trust, using the verification steps in the checklist above.

FAQs

Which old version of Super Bear Adventure should I download? It depends on your goal — that’s exactly what the quick guide at the top is for. Short version: match your friends’ exact build for multiplayer, pick 13.0.0+ for Hardcore Mode and the Crystalline Lagoon, 10.1.0+ for Backrooms hunting, and stay on the latest (13.0.5) if none of those apply to you. Is it safe to install an old APK? The files themselves are the developer’s own old builds — the risk comes from where you download them and from the fact that old builds no longer receive security fixes. Nobody can honestly promise any download is “100% safe,” including us. Stick to reputable mirrors, verify the package name (`com.Earthkwak.Platformer`), and treat the checklist above as mandatory, not optional. Can I play multiplayer on an old version? Only on 12.0.0 and newer — multiplayer didn’t exist before “The Multiplayer Update” (July 2025). And every player in a party must be on the same version; since 12.1.3, lobbies display version numbers, so mismatched parties can’t form. Can I play old versions offline? Yes. The main single-player adventure works offline on any version — only multiplayer needs an internet connection. Will my save data survive a downgrade? Not guaranteed. Save compatibility between versions isn’t officially documented, and uninstalling the current build can wipe your progress. Back up your save data before you downgrade — step 1 of the checklist. Why does the file size differ from site to site for the same version? Format differences. An APK bundle, an XAPK, and a repackaged build of the same version all pack differently — that’s why 13.0.5 reads ~246.7 MB in one listing and larger elsewhere. Compare sizes only within the same format. What’s the oldest version available? Version 1.0.0, released 10 June 2017 — the game’s initial release. It’s a collector’s item at this point, not a practical build for modern play. Where can I download old versions? We don’t link APK files on this page (see above). Take the exact version number from the table, then get it from an established mirror that verifies APK signatures — and run the verification steps in the checklist before installing.
